Happy Birthday!
This year I turn 30 in September. Carrie turns 30 in October. We celebrated by going out for dessert together. We had a great time!
Creation Museum
We met Carrie, her husband Josh, and their two kids, Maddie and Jude, in Kentucky. We had an awesome time with them, playing at Chuck E Cheese, swimming, and late night games. Our big event on Saturday, was going to the Creation Museum in Kentucky. It was a great museum that talked about creation verses evolution, and how natural selection fits into the mix, from a scientific and Godly view. As a person who values science, I really enjoyed reading all the information. There were several short videos to watch, a petting zoo, and a botanical garden too. It was a beautiful and eye-opening place. We easily spent all day there walking through all the rooms and outdoor activities. I will have more pictures to post once Carrie sends me hers. We drove 5 hours to get there, and it was definitely worth the trip! If you haven't been there, we highly recommend it, and they are also planning to add to the museum a full scale Noah's ark. We will have to go back to see that!
Little Trip
Last weekend I was blessed with the opportunity to reconnect with a friend of mine who I had not seen in 10 years. Carrie and I met in first grade, and quickly became best friends. We share many special memories of our years in school growing up together. In 8th grade, Carrie moved with her family to the state of Indiana. We kept touch in with letters and emails, and after graduating from high school, I took a road trip with a friend out to Indiana to visit her. The following year she drove to Pennsylvania with her new husband to visit me. Since that last trip in 2002, it has been 10 years. We had lost our connection and the strength of our friendship. Several months ago, we reconnected through emails and phone calls. It has been a true joy to rekindle our friendship and to learn about the women we have both become. It is wonderful to have a close friend to talk to who I know will give me Godly advice and not just sympathize and tell me what I want to hear. She has become not only a friend again, but also a mentor, sharing her experiences and passion for God with me. It inspires me to be a better person, to strive for everything that God has called me to be. I am so thankful that we were able to make room in our busy schedules to see each other. Hopefully we will not have to wait another 10 years to see each other, but even if we do, I know I can call her any time I need to talk with a friend.
